A field barn with a red covered roof contrasts with the fresh green of the endless grain field. They serve as storage and farm buildings for the storage of hay, straw and grain. In the past, grain was threshed out in the threshing floor. This work has now been taken over by the combine harvesters. Many field barns have no function today. The large roof areas are increasingly equipped with photovoltaic systems.
